THE SECRET OF
ABOUT THE VILLA
Hospitality is part of the Villa Schönegg’s foundations. During it’s almost 130-year history, this beautiful, historic house in Rüschlikon – set right on the shore of Lake Zurich and only 10 minutes away from the city – has almost always been house to a restaurant and has served as a place of excursions for bon vivants of all kinds.
Today, even more than before, the Villa’s proximity to the lake, as well as its beautiful, secluded garden make sure that locals and tourists both enjoy this new attraction on Lake of Zurich. Right across the street, with no obstructions, is one of Rüschlikon’s newest and most attractive communal parks, which was completely renovated and reconstructed in the spring of 2015. This lovely promenade is free to the public and now includes a small dock ideal for bathing, a lovely lawn for sunbathing or picnics, an attractive playground with a jungle gym for climbing and lots of inviting benches on which an unfettered view of the lake can be enjoyed in peace.
Your hosts, partners Cristina Paoletti and Guido Käppeli fell in love with the Villa the very first time they set foot in it – and that was during reconstruction work was being done. Their vision to complement the restaurant with a small, family-run Guesthouse on the upper floors of the estate became a reality in the summer of 2015. And so, a new chapter in the history of Villa Schönegg has been opened – in which, hopefully, many new and wonderful stories will be written. In which you will play a part, too!
